Some pregnant women tend to carry high and in the front.  Others carry low and wide.  Thankfully there are so many choices in today’s maternity clothes that a woman can be comfortable and fashionable no matter where the baby sits.  Someone that is carrying high might be more comfortable in pants, while the woman carrying lower may prefer a dress.  Some pregnancy fashions feature belly support.  This can be a huge blessing in the later months when the tummy is feeling tired and tender.  Mommies that want to highlight their newly rounded baby belly have many options in stretchy snug fitting tops.  These types of tops were not available until recent years when mothers took a united front to be proud of their baby bellies instead of hiding them behind a tent-like top.  

Dresses, skirts, tops, shorts, jeans, dress pants, suits and even lingerie are all available in maternity wear.  There is no reason that a woman should fall victim to a fashion faux pax simply because she is growing a new life inside her tummy!  Women can find maternity clothes in the same styles that they were wearing prior to becoming pregnant.  Designer maternity wear is even available from most major labels.  The addition of materials such as lycra, spandex and jersey are often seen in maternity wear as this allows the item to stretch with the belly growth.  This is both practical and economical.

As with all fashions, prices will range from the very inexpensive to the astronomically high.  If you are shopping for maternity clothes in the same styles and at the same stores that you shopped pre-pregnancy, you can expect a slight price hike, although not enough to break the budget.  Stores and designers are working hard to make sure that pregnant women are happy with the choices available to them.  Pregnancy is an important, enjoyable and memorable time; thrive in it!
