The rights of the married women and mothers on maternity.
It was drawing to the eighth month of Jane’s pregnancy. Deep down she knew she was approaching the critical moments of her pregnancy. Being her first pregnancy, she had struggled so much to ward off the myths that go along with pregnant women. One thing that disturbed her so much was when to take her maternity leave. She had been employed barely couple of months ago with her new employer. She really wondered if she could be granted full 26 weeks of maternity leave given the fact that she had been employed barely two months ago. More so, she heard it from grapevine that the company was doing badly and some of the employees were to be declared redundant in the next few weeks. This really put her in a dilemma as to whether to take up the maternity or not. Thinking of Jane’s situation, you can conclude that some employees go through stressful moments. If she had only known the maternity leave rights, it would have greatly helped her rest her case. The maternity law states categorically that all the mothers will be entitled to the maternity leave when it is due. During this period, the mother should not be victimized. She should enjoy all her leave days as long as she has been at the place of work for the last two months consecutive months. She will also receive all her benefits in the assumption that she is fully working. In this case Jane should have taken her maternity leave without further ado. Those living with their kids also have an added advantage when it comes to the annual income they get. Regardless of the other business that they get, they are also entitled to get the Working Tax Credit. It is normally based on various factors but most significantly, one should be having some kids as a proof for the benefit.
